Valentine's Day in Capitola

After we let Luke roam around the village and beach we dropped him off with the babysitter and went out for a double-date with Jerome and Becca for Valentine's Day sushi.

Cousins and Capitola

This past weekend Dave and I went and met my cousin Greg (who just so happens to be Dave's best friend from childhood) at Capitola beach. We met up with his wife Sharda and their new baby boy Cooper. Dave and Greg were born in the same hospital four days apart and have many fond memories together - causing great heartache to their mothers due to their adventurous spirits. Sharda and I worry our boys just may follow in their dads' footsteps. Greg and Dave also just so happened to be blessed with the opportunity to live in the Venetians at Capitola for two years from 2000-2002, so to be back in Capitola now, both fathers with young sons, was quite nostalgic. They lived in the bottom of the pink one closest to the Ocean in the below picture.
The boys with their friend Harleen who owns a clothing store in Capitola, In the Raw. He has fabulous dresses, I buy something almost every time we visit.

Luke's First Word!

Luke said "Dada" today! Actually it was more like "dadadadagawa - dadagagadadada - dawadadada..." but I'll take it. So we celebrated with a beach day.We went to Capitola Beach with our friends Craig and Joy and their 3 kids. This was Luke's first time in the sand, he was intrigued.

My First Drawing w/ Colored Pencil

You seem to get more relaxation time when you live on the beach. Maybe it's because you just don't want to be inside, where most of our busy-ness occurs. Probably helps that I don't have a computer at home, or a kitchen, and the ocean waves constantly call me outside. Some of that relaxation time I spent drawing this picture and gave a copy to our landlord, Anne, because she loves it when all the painters in town give her a copy of their artwork depicting her house.

Our Brick

Greg and I sponsored a brick in downtown Capitola to help support the downtown beautification project and immortalize our impact on this small town.

Crossing Paths

Our streets may go in different directions, but we always know they'll come together many times along the way. Here's one of those times...
It's one month after graduation, I drove straight to Santa Cruz from Oakland airport to meet my family for 4th of July. My Ford Explorer there in the background is packed full of everything I own. Greg drove from Vacaville to meet up with us when we had a fortuitous encounter with this intersection.

Little did we know we'd be living together on the beach in Capitola in just a few months time.
