Their families are very close (Dave has been friends with Natalie's cousin since they were born) so their paths have crossed many times, but somehow God kept the two from meeting until just the right moment last year: Natalie's Aunt's funeral. Not the best circumstances, but things have been uphill since. When Dave saw Natalie across the auditorium, he knew he had to meet her. And after a few minutes of conversation, they both knew they would be seeing more of each other. Apparently so did Natalie's mom, because she took a picture of them exchanging phone numbers. - First date... They had known each other for a few months at this point, gone to BBQs, to the beach, waterskiing, dancing... but Natalie still hadn't let Dave take her on a date. So when he finally got the chance, it had to be good. And what's better for a first date than a Broadway show in New York? They stayed with friends in Brooklyn and saw all the sites, from the Statue of Liberty to Central Park to Bernadette Peters. Natalie traveled well... Dave was hooked.
Natalie was on a YoungLife girls retreat for 4 days up at Lake Almanor, completely unsuspecting of any funny business. Saturday, around 11:30am, June 26th 2004, Dave donned his tuxedo shirt, bow tie, board shorts, and a rose and took off on a Waverunner to find her ski boat and whisk her away to a romantic luncheon on the lake. Dave had set up a fancy table on a pontoon boat anchored in the lake with all of Natalie's favorite foods, music, and champagne. The question was asked and the answer was 'Yes!!!' As they returned to the dock all of the high school girls were there holding posters they had made and cheering. Back at the cabin Dave sang a song he had written for Natalie with the high-school girls as his back up singers. Dave arranged for his friend Ryan to take his car home so he could ride with Natalie back to Sacramento to attend her friend's wedding. After the wedding they danced to their favorite Band, Shane Dwight, who happened to be playing in town. The next day the celebration continued with an engagement party BBQ at the Bradley house for all the friends.
